Spotting a Rogue Trader Cold Calling
Genuine traders do not normally cold call.

Common phrases used by rogues

i) "we are only in the area today"
ii) "we are doing a job down the road and we've got some tarmac left over"
iii) "I was passing and just noticed"

They will start off being friendly but eventually will try to make you feel under pressure.

The will generally insist on starting work the same day that they knocked on your door.

They won't give you a written quote or any paper work before starting work.
